In Week 2 of Intentional Living: The Benedictine Path we explore Time as Sacrament—where chronos (clock time) meets kairos (God-charged moments). Drawing on Luke 9 : 51-62, we see Jesus set His face toward Jerusalem and refuse every delay. Saint Benedict carries that same clarity into daily life with the monastic bell, a call that turns ordinary hours into worship.
Teaching Points:
Why chronos must stay open to kairos for a life of purpose
How Benedict orders prayer, work, and rest—and why it still matters
A four-point “bell” schedule (morning, midday, evening, night) you can keep with a simple phone alarm
Practical tips
Set a gentle chime labeled “Prayer,” not “Alarm.”
Pause at each bell to read a Psalm, pray the Lord’s Prayer, give thanks, or breathe in silence.
Watch how redeemed time reshapes attention and peace.
