What’s New at St. Clare’s – November 10, 2016

Two items for tonight
Winter Shelter Volunteer Training is tonight, Thursday, 6 – 8 pm at the North Bend Library. Snoqualmie Methodist will be hosting the shelter from Nov. 20 – Jan. 20. If you would like to volunteer for anything other than providing a meal, then this training is a necessary step.

The Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank is holding an Open House this Thursday, November 10th between 6 -8 p.m. This is a great opportunity for our community to learn about who we serve, how we serve, and why it all matters.

WHAT’S NEW THIS WEEK

GRAVEL!! This week, Nels Melgard from the Mt. Si Nursery came over and graded the parking lot. It is so lovely! Next week we will have gravel delivered to fill in a few dips & craters and make a thicker bed to park on. The gravel will be delivered sometime next Thursday and they will drop & drag it across the lot. We will need a few people on Saturday (10am) to come even things out. If you can spare an hour, that would be super!

Sunday readings: Here are the readings for this Sunday. http://www.lectionarypage.net/YearC_RCL/Pentecost/CProp28_RCL.html One of the things Bishop Greg and others talked about what how well or not well, we know scripture. Read even one of the readings designated for the coming week. Read it aloud as a dinner conversation starter, read it to your kids, read it and pray for five minutes asking for clarity, discernment, some tidbit that might enliven your life in God.

Annual Giving Campaign:The BC handed out letters and pledge cards last Sunday to kick off our Annual Giving Campaign for 2017. The rest were mailed yesterday. Please thoughtfully consider your pledge to St. Clare’s and the mission and ministry we provide to not only feed ourselves spiritually, but to follow Christ by caring for those in need. Our ingathering will be November 20th.

Walk and Be Well We got as far as the middle of Greenland last Sunday (Rio lost out!!!)
Be there on Sunday to see how far we’ve gone. Collectively we’ve walked almost 2,000,000 steps! That’s awesome. On December 10th we will celebrate with a potluck dinner. Please plan to attend even if you didn’t walk! Bring a dish to share and a pair of children’s shoes (try Target, Costco, StrideRite at the Outlet Mall). We’ll share in a good meal, have some fun, and donate the shoes to a bunch of needy kids!

Music Sunday will be November 20th. If you would like to offer your gift of music or song to enliven our worship, please talk with Julie Bussing this Sunday. We have several people who have come forward already. This was great fun last year as we wrapped up the liturgical year.

Are you interested in Caroling during the Christmas Season? We will schedule time at Red Oak, Regency, North Bend, and perhaps the Snoqualmie Hospital. If you would like to participate, please talk with Patty or Lydia Pozzato.

If you left a glass Pyrex baking dish at church the Sunday Bishop Greg was here, your pan is in the kitchen.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE CHURCH

It’s that time of year again! We are furiously collecting items for our ditty bags that will be packed on November 19 at St. John the Baptist Church in West Seattle. We would love to have you join us in our packing as well as join us for the event! On Saturday, November 19th, we will begin packing bags at 10am and finish the morning with a pot luck at St. John the Baptist. Each year we pack thousands of bags to benefit seafarers that come into the Port of Seattle and we would love for you to be a part of it!
To find our more information about what you can be collecting, check out our website.

The Rev. Patty Baker
